Based on a
preliminary study on the students’ work readiness at SMKN Sawahlunto, it was
found that the supervisory teachers have not been optimal in helpng their
students. This research was aimed at disclosing: (1) the functions of
supervisory teachers in improving the students to work. (2) the differences of
the students’ readiness to work among 10th, 11th, and 12th
grade students. (3) the correlation of supervisory teachers and the students
readiness to work.
This research
was a descriptive quantitative method with population of all SMKN Saawahlunto
students who registered in 2011-2012 academic year. The sample (303) were 50%
from a population of 609 students. Data were then analyzed by a descriptive
statistical technique utilizing SPSS version 15.
The findings of
this research were (1) there was a significant role of the supervisory teachers
on the students’ readiness.. (2) there were differences between 10th;
11th; and 12th grades students on the work readiness,
eventhough they were not very significant (3) there was a significant
correlation between supervisory teachers’ role and the work students’
readiness.
Based on the
findings, it can be concluded that the supervisory teachers play an important
role in the work students’ readiness. This research implies, more attention
should be paid in developing the SMKN career development program in order to
improve the work students’ readiness. For further research, it was recommended
to study other aspects which were contributed to the quality of the work
students’ readiness for SMK students.
