This research
was conducted from the students low aspiration level toward higher education.
The higher education aspiration level were affected by parents support and
students perception. This research was intended to describe: (1) the parents
support, the students perception on higher education and the higher education
aspiration level, (2) the contribution of the parents support toward higher
education aspiration level, (3) the contribution of the students perception on
higher education toward higher education aspiration level, and (4) the
contribution of the parents support and the students perception on higher
education toward higher education aspiration level.
This correlational descriptive research applied quantitative method. The population
of this research were 245 students of SMA Negeri 3 Mukomuko on grade XI and
XII, also 141 students there were chosen by proportional stratified random
sampling technique. The data
obtained were analyzed by using descriptive statistic, simple regression and
multiple regression. The data obtained were analyzed by using descriptive

The research
findings indicated that: (1) in average, the parents support was in high
category, the students perception on higher education was in very good
category, and the higher education aspiration level was in very high category,
(2) the parents support contributed 14.4% (R = 0.379, on significance level
0.000) toward higher education aspiration level, (3) the students perception on
higher education contributed about 10.3% (R = 0.322, on significance level
0.000) toward the higher education aspiration level, and (4) the parents
support and the students perception on higher education contributed about 20.9%
(R = 0.457, on significance level 0.000) toward the higher education aspiration
level. The implication of the result of this research could be considered as an
input for designing a service of guidance and counseling program.

Penelitian
ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih rendahnya tingkat aspirasi pendidikan
lanjutan siswa. Dukungan orangtua dan persepsi siswa tentang pendidikan
lanjutan merupakan faktor yang diduga mempengaruhi tingkat aspirasi pendidikan
lanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk
mendeskripsikan: (1) dukungan orangtua, persepsi siswa tentang
pendidikan lanjutan, dan tingkat aspirasi pendidikan lanjutan, (2) kontribusi dukungan orangtua terhadap tingkat
aspirasi pendidikan lanjutan, (3) kontribusi persepsi siswa tentang pendidikan
lanjutan terhadap tingkat aspirasi pendidikan lanjutan, dan (4) kontribusi
dukungan orangtua dan persepsi siswa tentang pendidikan lanjutan terhadap
tingkat aspirasi pendidikan lanjutan.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif
jenis deskriptif
korelasional. Populasi penelitian
adalah siswa kelas XI dan XII SMA Negeri 3 Mukomuko yang berjumlah 245 orang, sampel berjumlah 141 orang, yang dipilih dengan teknik proportional stratified random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner.
Data dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif, regresi sederhana, dan
regresi ganda.
Temuan
penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa: (1) secara rata-rata gambaran dukungan
orangtua berada pada kategori tinggi, persepsi
siswa tentang pendidikan lanjutan berada pada kategori sangat baik, dan
tingkat aspirasi pendidikan lanjutan berada pada kategori sangat tinggi, (2) terdapat
kontribusi dukungan orangtua terhadap tingkat aspirasi pendidikan lanjutan
sebesar 14.4% (R = 0.379, signifikansi 0.000), (3) terdapat kontribusi persepsi
siswa tentang pendidikan lanjutan terhadap tingkat aspirasi pendidikan lanjutan
sebesar 10.3% (R = 0.322, signifikansi 0.000), dan (4) terdapat kontribusi
dukungan orangtua dan persepsi siswa tentang pendidikan lanjutan secara
bersama-sama terhadap tingkat aspirasi pendidikan lanjutan sebesar 20.9% (R =
0.457, signifikansi 0.000). Implikasi hasil penelitian dapat dijadikan sebagai
masukan untuk membuat program layanan bimbingan dan konseling.
